The Software Behind the Financial Crisis
If I ever teach a college level course on how to program, I think that this story is the first thing I will have the students read. It elegantly displays the power of software, and also its weaknesses. In essence, it is very much like the radiation equipment story that a professor made me read in college, but it will be far more relevant to anyone who has lived through these last few years.
